The idea for Liberty Boat came from living in Darwin and seeing the lack of safe, reliable, and affordable transport options available, particularly for Defence members, students, and young professionals living in the region.

Too often people are stranded after a night out, paying for overpriced taxis, or risking unsafe alternatives.

Having first-hand experience whilst serving in the Australian Defence Force, we understand the challenges people in our communities face when they want a stress-free night out. That gap in the market is what inspired ‘Liberty Boat’.

The Story of the "Liberty Boat"

In the Navy, a liberty boat is a small vessel that ferries sailors from their ship to shore when they finally get “liberty”—also known as shore leave. It’s about freedom, connection, and re-engaging with the community. We took that idea and applied it to Darwin. Liberty Boat is the ride that transports people from the office, dormitories or barracks, out of isolation, and into the heart of Darwin's vibrant social areas — safely, legally, and with good vibes.
